2016 Nissan Titan Gets New Endurance V8 Engine

Buyers will have a tough choice when the new 5.6-liter Endurance V8-powered Titan XD joins the Cummins Turbo Diesel models in early spring 2016. The Titan XD offers truck buyers the capability of a heavy-duty pickup truck, but with the drivability and affordability of a light-duty pickup. Both the Endurance V8 and Cummins Turbo Diesel offer exceptional durability and capability.

The new 5.6-liter Endurance V8 gasoline engine will be available in the all-new 2016 Titan and Titan XD full-size pickup trucks from Nissan, and uses four valves per cylinder, variable valve event & lift and direct injection to produce an impressive 390 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque.

The new V8 engine is not only more powerful than the previous V8 used in the Titan, it is also smoother and more responsive. Nissan was able to dramatically improve throttle response by directly controlling the intake valve, rather than the traditional method of controlling the intake with a throttle valve, valve timing and non-variable camshafts.

Direct injection technology has improved wide-open throttle performance, fuel economy and emissions by reducing engine knock and using precise injection control. The Endurance V8 uses an 11.2:1 compression ratio, compared to the previous Titan’s 9.8:1 ratio, for better efficiency and performance.

2016 Titan XD models equipped with the Endurance V8 engine are mated to a new 7-speed automatic transmission, which includes Adaptive Shift Control and Downshift Rev Matching for smoother and faster shifts.

The Titan and Titan XD will be available in five grade levels, with three powertrain offerings, two frame sizes and three cab configurations. If you are interested in the 2016 Nissan Titan, visit us at Nissan of New Rochelle in New York.
