The 2016 Nissan Murano was recently named the Activity Vehicle of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association during their annual Texas Auto Roundup. Over two days, journalists from 11 states judged 53 vehicles in 17 categories. The crossover segment is highly competitive, and the Murano stood out as the best among the competition.
Judges at this year’s competition were impressed by the Murano’s luxurious interior, bold exterior styling and overall value in the segment. The new Altima and Maxima were also recognized as runners-up in their respective categories, and the Titan XD received the famed Truck of Texas honor last fall at the annual Texas Truck Rodeo.
Nissan made sure the Murano was instantly recognizable, with its V-motion front end styling, LED boomerang lights and unique floating roof design. Inside, the Murano has a social lounge feel thanks to large windows, oversized Power Panoramic Moonroof and advanced Zero Gravity front and rear seats.
The 2016 Murano also features advanced technology, including NissanConnect with Navigation, an 8-inch multi-touch display, Around View Monitor, Nissan Intelligent Key and an 11-speaker Bose audio system.
Every Murano is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine connected to Nissan’s advanced Xtronic transmission. Buyers get the choice between standard front-wheel drive and available Intuitive All-Wheel Drive. And thanks to weight reduction and improved aerodynamics, the new Murano gets around 20 percent better fuel economy than the previous-generation.
Available safety features include Moving Object Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Warning. Murano customers also get the choice between four well-equipped trim levels: S, SV SL and Platinum.
